Welcome to The Green Scene!

Be Seen :: The Green Scene!

Recently, Jesse Jane of Jesse Jane’s Jewelry Pendants has put together a PDF lesson, calledGet Visable – Be Seen!

Happily, The Green Scene is in this lesson book!

Here’s what she says:

“One of my happy, satisfied customers wrote a beautiful review of her products she received, along with pictures on her blog.

She writes, “I was impressed from the start, the package was made out of a colorful paper, carefully done to precisely fit the items. Once you open this (you feel bad ripping into it!) you’re greeted with an adorable handcrafted thank you note, as well as a little slip about the shop and another thank you signature. You certainly don’t get that when ordering from a big company.”

Product reviews like this on blogs are fabulous for driving more traffic to your shop. This was posted on Feb 24th. In mid-April, the blog author contacted me about doing a promotion on her blog. I set up a special promo code and sent her a photo. Look at this wonderful promotion: My Green Scene”

Check out this great resource, within 18 pages, 3500+ words and numerous screenshots, this has information on how to marketing yourself outside of Etsy. I’d take her advice, after 1 year of business, she has over 2700 sales!

Also, to refresh your memory, check out my original review of her pendants.

OK, so I’m a little late posting this, but I just realized it was scribbled on my calendar. It’s not green, but it should be yummy. Recycle the container!

Green Scene’s First Giveaway! :: Mmm…Cookies…

Your favorite blog, the Green Scene, is having it’s first giveaway! The great people over at the Immaculate Baking Company have been kind enough to send me a coupon for a

FREE package of their cookie dough.

I have been lucky enough to enjoy their vanilla sugar cookies and their  chocolate chunk. They come in pre-made rounds, which you can pull out a few for when surprise company pops in, throw in the whole package after a bad day at work, whatever you want! They’re super easy to bake, fills the house up with incredible smells (like you’ve been baking for hours) and around 10-12 minutes, you have delicious cookies outta the oven.

With the sugar cookies, I took a few to work, one co-worker said, “I don’t usually like sugar cookies, but these are incredible.” The smell of these cookies baking, and the cookies themselves are different than any other cookie I’ve made or tried, the organic vanilla really plays a major part in these delicious cookies.

My boyfriend was on hand to try (and smell) these cookies, and take note, he’s not a big “dessert” guy, but, this is what he had to say: “Tasty, moist and rich while not being overpowering. These cookies convinced a skeptic that organic or green marketed foods can indeed live up to the hype and be equally if not more enjoyable than their more traditional counterparts.”

Enjoy poking around their website, they have great recipes, online shopping and sign up for their newsletter. OR find them at your local retailer.

The big “Green” thing about this company and these cookies is they are made from all natural and organic ingredients, as well as have a “Soul Food Fund”.

In their own words: At Immaculate, we believe that creativity is seriously-good food for the soul.

That’s why we’ve established our Soul Food Fund™ through which we fulfill our “soul-cial” mission to support, nurture and celebrate creativity! To us, the uninhibited self-expression of folk artists is the ultimate form of creativity.

OK. Now that I’ve started you drooling on your keyboard, here’s how to win!

Post a comment with your favorite type of cookie AND Email Address. It does not have to be a type that the Immaculate Baking Company offers (although it will count). Feel free to copy or link to the recipe and share with us!

This giveaway will end on Sunday, May 3rd. I will use a random number generator, and pick a winner. They will contacted for their address, and mailed the certificate for a free package of cookie dough!

One of Purina’s many green initiatives for 2009 is to actively encourage pet owners to recycle their pet food cans. Request for service here!

Wanting your dog to be eco chic? A company, Sustainable Pet Design has created, and is selling unusual and artistic creations designed to be earth friendly and use nature for comfort and beauty.

The roofs claim to be living gardens, grown in soil, which add more than just aesthetics to the structure. They are said to provide insulation from hot or cold weather, and reduce noise. Under the soil is a split bamboo layer, so when it rains, the water is supposed to filter through the plants, soil and bamboo and run off as water for your dog. The plants and natural red cedar building materials also provide a fresh scent that’s appealing to humans and canines.

2009-winter-new-products-273-320x200Die Cuts With a View has launched a new line of scrapbooking products made from 70% post-consumer recycled paper and are acid and lignin-free. The Green Collection consists of 12×12 and 8×8 premium textured cardstock stacks, a 4.5×6.5 mat stack and a box of chipboard shapes that are all made from recycled paper.

On the home front, DCWV Inc. has also started a paper and cardboard recycling program within their office and warehouse. A small recycling bin was distributed to each office employee to separate their paper waste from other disposables. Cardboard is also now shipped to an off-site recycler.

These combined efforts are DCWV Inc.’s way of being more green.
