Figured I’d share one of the few photos I’ve taken of my garden. I should really get out there with a camera more often….

Since it’s almost the weekend,  I’ve got some great products for your garden & home, a garden makeover sweepstakes and some natural pest repellent recipes!

Ortho, makers of some of your more familiar insect control products, has developed a new EcoSense Brand. Formulated with specially selected active ingredients, Ortho® EcoSense™ Brand offers sensible effective solutions for insect control, plant disease and rose care. Kill bugs and control disease to help flowers, vegetables and roses thrive.

Enter yourself in the Miracle-Gro® Organic Choice® $5.000 Garden Makeover Sweepstakes and win a garden makeover: a consultation with a garden expert and products and plants that would be determined by the expert.

Good luck! Let’s cross our fingers on of us wins!

Want to fend off bugs naturally? Research has shown that some plant oils and natural ingredients combat pests as well as those harsh and harmful products. For all spray-on applications, dilute 20 drops of essential oil with 1 cup grape seed oil and 1 1/2 cups of purified water (shake well).

Ants? Use Peppermint essential oil or Citronella essential oil, use 3-5 drops on windowsills, doorways and under the sink.

Blackflies? Use Cinnamon oil or Tumeric oil, spray or dab on clothing and exposed skin.

Cockroaches? Use Citrus oil, especially kaffir lime oil, spray on problem areas.

Mosquitos? Use catnip oil or Thyme oil, spray or dap on clothing or exposed skin.

Ticks? Use Lemon eucalyptus oil, spray or dab on clothing and exposed skin.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
