Recycle with your top off! :: Crafty ideas and lid recycling by Laura

This morning I learned something about the items I recycle most – bottles and items with caps.

  • Small lids (think water bottles, milk jugs, and condiment containers) often fall through filtering screens and don’t get recycled.
  • At recycling plants, containers are easier to filter and bundle when plastics don’t mix (lid plastic’s different than bottle plastic) and the air is pushed out (lids trap air in).

The solution? Aveda has started a cap recycling program! Take all of your caps (see their guidelines to know what to bring in) to Aveda Salons! Find your closest one here.

Want another reason to show your kids how fun recycling is?
