Discoveries at Walgreens :: Beauty Products and Greeting Cards by Laura

I recently stopped into a Walgreens to pick up one thing, and started writing down a small handful of cool new “green” products available!

A new company that I have found is eos, or “evolution of smooth.” Evolution of Smooth is exactly what they produce: lip balms, moisterizing shave cream and coming soon – body lotion. The lip balm “sphere” you see to the left is 95% organic and 100% natural that is petrolatum and paraben free. It’s also “packed” with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, shea butter and jojoba oil. All this goodness put in a fun package and for $2.99 – purchasable online or in stores. Check out their entire online store for the full product line!

Second product found in the “beauty” product aisle is ALMAY – pure blends. ALMAY, a brand most people have heard of or used previously, now is offering a “no compromise” group of beauty products such as makeup, eye shadow, mascara, lip gloss, blush/bronzer and loose finishing powder. This product line has 95%+ natural ingredients, including fruits and flowers, eco-friendly packaging (made from 43% recycled materials), it’s free of added parabens and free of talc. These natural products you want, with no compromise, offering a full line of color cosmedics with sheer, luminous color with live-in weightless formulas that last all-day. What I also like, is the entire ALMAY company is hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested and opthalmologist tested. Check out all of the stores that carry this product line!

The next great “greening” is Hallmark. Thankfully one of the largest greeting card company is going green! Think of all the paper they put out a day! Cards with the Hallmark Green Symbol are produced one of 3 ways: Recycled Paper, Sustainably Managed Forests or Alternative Paper Stock. Check out their informational website for more details on their green philosophy, green FAQ’s and how they are making things more eco-friendly.

It’s nice to see companies making a change! I am interesting in checking out the new Almay mascara, the one I have right now is loaded with a lot of yucky things. I’m also pleased to hear Hallmark is going green. I usually don’t send cards because I believe it’s a waste of paper and I never know if the person receiving the card will ever recycle it or not, but at least those purchasing at Hallmark will now have a choice to make it a green one.
