Waterpebble is unique in the way it works to help reduce water usage.

The clever device monitors water going down the plug hole when you shower.  Memorising your first shower and using it as a benchmark, Waterpebble then indicates, via a series of ‘traffic lights’ flashing gently from green through to red, when to finish showering.  Each time you shower Waterpebble automatically fractionally reduces your shower time helping you to save water without needing to think about it.

Waggin’ Wedneday :: Ballistic Material for Your Chewer by Laura

A company named K-9 Ballistics offers a new GREAT product that may solve some “issues” we have with a certain Isabelle we have. As you may know, Labs are well known for being chewers and unstuffers. Dog Beds were laughable until now. Check out all of the Ballistic Dog Beds! If they shew through it, they replace it. Awesome guarantee!

The outer cover of this deluxe dog bed combines water-resistant 1680 denier ballistic cloth and smart design. Recognizing weak spots in a bed, we have removed the zipper and replaced it with an industrial strength Velcro closure that is completely hidden underneath the bed. We have also reinforced the corners from the inside with an extra piece of ballistic material. This extremely durable outer cover surrounds an inner cushion covered by a non woven ticking material.

The inner cushion is filled with multiple layers of tufted, high loft polyfill batting to create an incredibly comfortable, mattress like bed. The outer cover is odor and water-resistant, but if necessary, the inner cushion can be removed and washed. These design features were implemented to help extend the life of our beds. There is nothing out there that is truly “indestructible” when it comes to our canine friends but these beds are definitely the most durable on the market.

I saw this cool blog post on one of my daily blogs, shelterrific, and thought I would pass it along to the Green Scene’rs.  Springwise, recently covered two new food tracking technologies. One is Chip Tracker, Frito-Lay’s app that lets you see where your chips originated. Another is HarvestMark, a new system that lets you track produce. Kroger stores have already partnered with the service.

Meghan Monday: Starbucks goes GREEN! by Meghan

I know this isn’t really a crafty post, but since we had some cold weather here in sunny Florida last week I thought it was appropriate. I’m not much of a coffee gal, but I do love the Pumpkin Spice Latte and Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks. They both kinda just signify the start of the holiday season. So when I was looking last week to see when the Christmas flavors were gonna be out (they seem to be out now), I found out about their “Green” Starbucks card.

According to their website, “We’re excited to introduce our first Starbucks Card made with 80% post-industrial recycled material. It’s sure to inspire you with its whimsical and modern design. And don’t forget – you can reload and reuse this card time after time.” I mean I all ready love the fact that the gift cards are reloadable (is that even a word?), so the fact that they are not made of of recycled material is just the icing on the cake. So if you are thinking about getting your friends some Starbucks cards this holiday season, think about getting them a green one.
