I know it’s been FOREVER since I’ve done a Meghan Monday post, but I promise to be better about it this year!

I love love LOVE the How About Orange blog! Did I mention that I love it? Well last week Jessica posted about making gift bows out of the yellow pages. How smart is that? We all usually end up with a copy of the yellow pages (either at home or work) that we don’t use because of the internet. So how about snagging a couple of pages to make bows out of before you throw that bad boy in the recycle bin? Sounds like a plan to me!

Toilet Paper/Paper Towel Roll Fun! by Laura

I did some eco-friendly crafting during the month of December, to jazz up my otherwise boring office. The first photo is using TP Rolls and Paper Towel Rolls, cut into strips, curled, bent, etc. The 2nd photo and 3rd is of my coffee guard wrap holder thingies, cut into leaf shape, and fashioned into a wreath. All of these done at work, in a minimal amount of time. (PS make sure to have sharp scissors for the coffee mug liners, they’re thick!)

This is why I “oooooh”ed at this little tutorial. I have so many leftover rolls, I’m  set for life. I had friends and even our office cleaning lady stashing them away for me!

Enjoy this precious and super cool tutorial, it’s not time intensive, and will yield great results. Trust me, I have a low tolerance for crafty projects that are time consuming and difficult. The great bit about this is, when you cut strips from these rolls, the strip bends practically in half already AND you can reuse something that normal gets ditched in the recycling bin!

Happy Valentine’s Day! by Laura

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about PDA, and grand expressions of love, forced proposals, and all of that stuff that happens in movies.

VDay can be about all sorts of different non traditional love. Why not love the environment, Mother Nature, the little birdies on your windowsill?

Check out this…tweet tutorial on how to make your own bird seed gifties. I can attest that these are simple and super fun to make. I made a handful of them for my birdies, as a trial for a baby shower decoration I was considering.

One tip, if you don’t have cookie cutters around, or looking for a smaller idea, how about those ice cube molds (hearts!) you buy at Ikea?

Make Your Own Laundry Soap by Laura

I know I’ve been pretty absent on here, but I really hope to post again regularly in about 3 months. Wedding planning/crafting has taken up a majority of my brain cells in the past year. Don’t worry, the Green Scene is always in my heart!

Today I found a pretty cool “Make Your Own Laundry Soap” tutorial, thought I’d share with everyone. It brought her costs down from 60 cents a load, to 7 cents, while also solving the issue of making it allergy friendly, and scent free.
