Belkin, makers of some fun electronics for your home, ipod, laptop, whatever you need has now come up with another fun gadget we all need. Their new “Conserve” line of products includes a socket, a valet pad, monitor and surge protector. All of these items are energy and money saving products that are designed to help you track, monitor and control energy use in your home. Use less, save more!

Save energy with timed power. Timed power, you say? Let’s just think about your morning activities: curling iron, coffee maker and phone charger. Let’s say you use these for 30 mins or so every morning. It’s a pain to keep them unplugged (yes, appliances use energy when they’re not in use!) and re-plug in every freakin’ morning. What if we had Conserve Socket? There are three settings, 30 minutes, 3 hours and 6 hours. Plug the curling iron in, choose the 30 minute setting, and the socket automatically shuts off after 30 minutes. This also reduces the fire hazard!  Same as with anything we use on a casual basis. Want to charge a phone overnight? Set it on the 3 or 6 hour timer, and boom. Use it to shut off standby power after your electronic devices are fully charged. Shut off lights, fans and heaters to avoid leaving them on indefinitely.

Try to resist buying about 100 of these!
